How much harder is Tungsten Carbide when compared to other metals?
Tungsten Carbide is:
4x harder than titanium
5x harder than tool steel
10x harder than 18K gold or sterling silver
Aren’t all Tungsten and Tungsten Carbide rings the same?
No! Many jewelers may be selling rings made of only Tungsten, which is cheaper than Tungsten Carbide and much less
resistant to wear. Only by bonding Tungsten with Carbon are you able to obtain the superior qualities.
Many online jewelers offer Tungsten Carbide rings but do not mention their rings may contain Cobalt as the bonding agent.
Cobalt bonded Tungsten Carbide is cheaper to manufacture and has the potential to irritate the wearer's skin. Cobalt bonded
rings also compromise the strength and shine of the ring through oxidation spots. These oxidation spots cannot be removed
or polished out. EternalTungsten.com only sells cobalt-free rings, so you can be sure you are purchasing only the purest and
highest quality wedding bands.
What does Comfort Fit mean?
Comfort Fit means that the inside edge of the ring is slightly rounded to avoid the discomfort of a sharp edge pressed against
your finger. This is especially helpful when the ring has relatively thick width in relation to your finger size. All of our rings at
EternalTungsten.com come with a Comfort Fit.

How do I remove the ring in an emergency?
If you are having difficulty removing your ring we highly recommend soaking the ring bearing finger and hand in ice filled water
for a few minutes then apply liquid soap and gently slip the ring off.
If the method to remove the ring with ice water and soap doesn’t work the tungsten carbide ring can be removed by breaking
the ring with a standard vice grip-style locking pliers. Place vice grip-style locking pliers over ring and adjust the jaws to clamp
lightly. Release and adjust tightener one-third turn then clamp again. Repeat until a crack is heard continue clamping in
different positions until the ring is broken off. Take care not to slide or rotate the cracked ring on the finger. If the ring contains
an inlay of gold, the exposed gold can be cut or clipped.
Are Tungsten Carbide Rings Scratch Proof?
No, they are scratch resistant. Your ring will most likely obtain scratches during its lifetime, but they will be significantly less
frequent and harder to see when compared to other jewelry metals. In addition, the inlays found on some of our rings are
more susceptible to scratches than those made purely of tungsten carbide. We have also found that rings with textured
finishes are also more easily scratched than polished ones because the texturing process removes some of material that was
previously hardened and what remains are very tiny textured surfaces. While these surfaces are easier to scratch, the
scratches are also harder to notice because of the natural worn look they possess.
